Batote people demand dismantling of damaged tower on NH

JAMMU, Feb 20: People of Batote villages have demanded that immediate steps be taken to dismantle the damaged tower near Baghu Nallah Batote which is in a precarious condition and can create any catastrophe at any time in case the preemptive measures were not taken by the Department at an earliest.
In an appeal to Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh who is holding portfolio of Power also and Chief Engineer Systems and Operation Wing PDD the people have sought their intervention in the matter.
The residents of the area said that Tower Number 175 of 220 KV Kishenpur- Pampore Transmission Line got damaged after it was hit by an oil tanker which rolled down the hill on February 8 this year. The tower is in a precarious condition inclined towards the Highway and it can create any catastrophe and prove dangerous for vehicular traffic as well as public if immediate steps are not taken to dismantle it as the tower has chances of collapsing any time.
They said though the power supply was restored by the PDD Department but the safety of public continues to remain in danger.
