BILLAWAR, Feb 18:  State general secretary of Pradesh Youth  Congress, Pankaj Basotra has demanded free refilling of LPG cylinders provided to the BPL and rural women under Pardhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojna (PMUY) at  least  for ten years.
Addressing public meeting in Billawar area today, Basotra  said many LPG category people of  his area  and especially woman met him, who told  that they got  free LPG connections under PM’s Ujjawalla Yojna from the Government and the leaders of a particular political party  last year but now the cylinders provided have been exhausted and required its refilling but they don’t have the source of income to get the same refilled and demanded its free refilling.
The LPG connection holders under PMUY said that after getting the connections free of cost from the Government, the gas cylinders have been used for three to four months by each and every family but after that the users those are mostly BPL families are not in a position to refill the same and are in a hope from the Government for free refilling to some period or till their position to get the LPG cylinders refilled from their source of income.
The Youth Congress leader  expressed his concern over such situation and said that the present Government has issued more than one crore of free LPG connections to the BPL and other rural residents during the last two years but the refilling percentage remained as it was prior to distribution of the free LPG connections because the people who got that connections are not in a position to get the cylinders refilled from their own income.
Basotra further said that the annual income of majority of these families is not more than twenty to thirty thousand which is also not sufficient for their livelihood and from where they manage Rs 800-900 to get the LPG cylinder refilled because they are in a position to spent such amount.  He demanded free of cost refilling of the LPG cylinders for BPL and rural resident families for at least ten years.
