Barley futures improve on spot demand

NEW DELHI, Apr 12: Barley prices posted gain of Rs 16 to Rs 1,399 per quintal in futures trade today on the widening of holdings in sync with strong physical demand.
Market players mentioned the upward movements in barley futures prices to bolstering of demand from beer makers amidst rising mercury amid tight arrivals from growing belts in spot markets.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange counter, barley delivery for the June increased by Rs 16 or 1.16 per cent to Rs 1,399 per quintal, clocking an open interest of 320 lots.
Similarly, the delivery of the most traded May advanced by Rs 12 or 0.88 per cent to Rs 1,376 per quintal, depicting an open interest of 11,890 lots. (PTI)
