JAMMU, Aug 17: Extending full support to the violence hit people of Kishtwar district, Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association, Jammu today constituted a team of senior advocates of Kishtwar for taking feedback from the aggrieved people and submitting report to the Bar President for necessary follow-up action.
“Negotiations should be directly held with the affected and aggrieved people regarding their demands/complaints pertaining to compensation, security and protection”, Bar Association said in a handout issued today.
The Bar Association has impressed upon the Government to take stern action against the real culprits and expedite the inquiry of the Kishtwar incident as the serious allegations have been leveled against the local police, administration and the then Minister of State for Home.
“There is a dire need to bring truth before the public whose faith has been shattered by the incident and the accused are required to be identified and dealt with under law”, the Bar said, adding “the actual compensation for the loss of persons and property be paid to the affected people to their entire satisfaction as the unfortunate incident has occurred due to administrative failure in which properties worth lakhs of rupees were reduced to ashes by the miscreants”.
Cautioning the Government against disbanding Village Defence Committees, the Bar said, “there will be great danger to the public living in militancy infested areas if the Government disbands VDCs”, adding “this will also encourage the anti-national elements and would further disturb peace and tranquility. Moreover, this step would lower the morale of the nationalist forces which have always stood by the nation in the testing times”.
