Bani people express concern over delay in construction of roads

KATHUA, Dec 5: The peoples of Bani  have shown their serious concerns over the delay in construction of roads under PMGSY and unwanted hurdles created by Forest Department in  giving the clearance .
In this connection a deputation of Bani constituency led by Ex Deputy Speaker and National Conference (NC) leader, Ghulam Hyder Malik met with Commissioner Secretary PWD , Sanjeev Verma and apprised him about the unwanted delay in construction of nearly half dozen of roads on which work has been stopped  and people are forced to walk on foot as they have no other alternative.
Malik alleged that the present Government has failed to streamline the road works undertaken under the PMGSY. He said that the road works from  Beacon to Chidyar, Beacon to Balzedi , Bani to Sandroon, Sarthali to Tapper ,  Machhedi to Bhatwal and Koug to Duggani were taken up in hand under the PMGSY after a long effort and long wait . Unfortunately the road works were stopped in the middle for forest clearance.
He alleged that when all clearance were taken after completion of DPR and sanction of funding , then why unwanted hurdle was created by Forest Department.  He said that on the one side present Government is committed to connect the villages with road and Central Government is releasing liberal funding then why Forest Department is creating hurdles in completing the projects.
He said that some works were started but stopped in the middle. He said that some roads were constructed but not maintained by the department due to lack of funds. He said that the people of Bani are badly affected due to lack or road network for years together. The young generation, students, patients and common people are forced to walk on foot, he added .
The Dhaggar block and Lohai-Malhar is not so far connected with road and are only blocks in the State which have no road connectivity, Malik said, adding that Commissioner Secretary PWD, Sanjeev Verma assured them to convene a meeting with Forest Department and concerned department so that the pending roads can be executed.
