Balwant Thakur’s ‘Rangla Jammu’ mesmerizes audience

JAMMU, May 4: The glorification of Jammu’s diverse culture and heritage saw its ultimate heights when the electrifying presentation of Balwant Thakur’s “Rangla Jammu” mesmerized the audience at General Zorawar Singh Auditorium here this evening.
Organized by Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDU) in collaboration with University of Jammu, the presentation of Rangla Jammu kept the audience spellbound and the artists were repeatedly applauded for their mind-blowing performance.
On the occasion, Minister for Horticulture, Housing and Culture Raman Bhalla was the chief guest.
Natrang Director presented the welcome address and threw light on the contents of the show.
The amazing “Rangla Jammu” opened with Late Dinu Bhai Pant’s poem “Mere Dese Daa Shalepa Meri Akhi Kane Dikh” (See the chic great thing about my land through my eyes) undoubtedly a very this that came on stage afterwards was simply magical. It started with the normal instrumental type of Jammu and therefore the show was brightened up with rarest of the people instruments like ‘King’, ‘Narsingha’, ‘Flute’, ‘Sarangi’ and ‘Dogra Dhol’. This was followed by the rarest singing traditions of Dogras like ‘Karkan’, Bhakhan’, ‘Geetru’ and ‘Shinjan’.
Speaking on the occasion, Raman Bhalla said that such kind of proud mega cultural presentations which are the true representatives of composite culture and co-existence should be presented time and again.
The artists who featured in the Rangla Jammu included Neeraj Kant, Anil Tickoo, Subash Jamwal, Gaurav Jamwal, Manoj Dhamir Shammi, Pawan Verma, Mohd Yaseen, Sajra Qadir, Sushil Raina, Ankush Lakhnotra and Ashwani Bali. The lights were designed and executed by Suraj Ganjoo and the audiography of the presentation was done by Sumeet Sharma.
