Balwant Thakur leaves for China to attend International Folk Art Festival

JAMMU, Aug 6: Balwant Thakur, the Regional Director of ICCR Jammu, today left for China to attend the 10th China International Folk Art Festival, being held at Qinghai Grand Theatre in Xining City of China.
Balwant Thakur will be a part of prestigious four member Government of India cultural delegation to China headed by Director General of ICCR. The other two members include Dr K S Rao, Secretary Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi and Pratibha Prahlad, Director Delhi International Festival of Arts.
During his China tour, Balwant Thakur will also visit and stay in Shanghai, Beijing, and Nanjing cities of China and will inspect, study and have a close look review of the arts infrastructure where Festival of India in China is going to be held in the year, 2016. In addition to this, he will visit to China Writers Association, China Dance Association and China Theatre association for interaction programmes.
The opening event of 10th China International Folk Art Festival will feature presentations from USA, Philippines, China, South Korea, Japan, Kyrgyz Republic, Magnolia, Netherlands, Ireland, Finland, Fiji, Argentina and India. China International Folk Art Festival was set up in 1990 with approval from the State Council. It is held triennially by CFLAC and a domestic city. To this day, it has attracted 137 folk art groups from 58 countries, and more than 3000 artists and millions of spectators.
