JAMMU, Mar 18: Minister for Health & Medical Education, Bali Bhagat inaugurated the Annual Sports Meet of J&K High Court Bar Association here at Jammu University Ground today.
The sports activities like cricket, football, volleyball, athletic will be held during the week-long event wherein the players including, Members of Bar Association, Advocates and Members of Judiciary will participate and exhibit their skills in these fields. The other events will be held on 21st, 29th, 30th, 31st March and conclude on 1st April, 2018
The inauguration was made with cricket match, which was played between High Court Eleven and Jammu Dare Devil and won by High Court Eleven.
President, Bar Association Jammu (BAJ) and senior Advocate, BS Salathia, Members of BAJ, large number of advocates and Members of Judiciary were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that sports activities are must for all to keep mentally as well as physically fit. He said the advocates are always busty with their work not only during the day time, but also at late night hours and are supposed to get mental stress. Such sports events are quite beneficial to get relieved from the stress. He wished success to the organizers for the sports event.
On the occasion, the Minister announced Rs. one lakh to the BAJ for purchase of sports kits to promote sports activities.
The President and other Members of the BAJ conveyed gratitude to the Minister for gracing the occasion. On the occasion, the President demanded a piece of suitable land to the BAJ for establishing a Lawyers Club on the analogy of Press Club which is badly needed.
Sachin Gupta (Vice President), Prem Sadotra (General Secretary), Himanshu Sharma (Joint Secretary), Chetan Misri (Treasurer) and Daljeet Singh Manhas (YLA President) also graced the occasion with their presence.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were UK Jalali (Senior Advocate), S. Surinder Singh Advocate, Suresh C. Sharma, Chairman Sports Committee, S. Rupinder Singh, Subodh Singh Jamwal, Ranjit Singh Jamwal, Sanjeev Padha, Ajay Singh Manhas, Ravi Dogra, Bawa Ditta, Gourav Jamwal, AP Singh, MP Singh Palli,  Deepak Balouria and Kamal Magotra.
The first match was played between High Court XI and Jammu Dare Devils, in which Jammu Dare Devils after winning the toss chose to bat first and scored 62 runs in the 10 overs for the loss of 7 wickets. Ashish Sharma was the top scorer with 14 runs, while Pankaj, Asif and Tariq took 2 wickets each. In reply High Court XI chased the given target of 63 runs in 5 overs for the loss of just one wicket, Sunil was the highest scorer with 33 runs and Sudesh made 19 runs.
In the second match, Legal A star after winning the toss batted first and scored 98 runs in 10 overs for the loss of 5 wickets. Raj Thakur was the highest scorer with 32 runs, while Sharoz scored 31 runs. Love took 2 wickets and Abhishek, Neelam and Veer took 1 wicket each.
In reply, Legal lions made 66 runs. Neelam was the highest scorer with 15 runs, whereas Nelashwar scored 12 and Bhanu Prtap chipped in with 12 runs. For Legal A Stars, AP Singh, Irfan, Sharoz and Pravesh took 2 wickets each and Sanjay claimed 1 wicket. Legal A Stars won by 36 runs.
Third match was played between Royal Warriors and Qureshi XI, in which Royal Warriors after winning the toss batted first and scored 105 runs in 10 overs. Azhar was the highest scorer with 44 runs, whereas Majid scored 23 runs and Gourav Sarangal scored 19 runs while Anyat Ali and Z.M Qureshi took 2 wickets each and Farooqi took 1 wicket. In reply Qureshi XI scored 69 runs. Syed Nadeem Hamdani was the highest scorer with 31 runs while Kamal Mangotra took 3 wickets and Lokesh took 2 wicket and Vishal, Himanshu and Azhar took 1 wicket each. Royal Warriors won by 37 runs.
4th match was played between Lawyers Guild and Avengers XI, in which Lawyers Guild after winning the toss decided to field first and Avengers scored 145 runs in 10 overs. Manzoor Mushtaq was the highest scorer with 74 runs, whereas Ashwani Kumar scored 50 runs while Sahil Sharma took 1 wicket.
In reply, Lawyers Guild scored 92 runs. Amit Sharma was the highest scorer with 34 runs whereas Sushant scored 27 runs while Suhail Mir took 4 wickets and Tareez and Ashwani took 1 wicket each. Avengers XI won by 53 runs.
5th match was played between A.G’s Eleven Vs Carribean XI, in which A.G’s  eleven after winning the toss batted first and scored 79 runs in 10 Overs. Aditya Chopra was the highest scorer with 42 runs, whereas Nadeem scored 14 runs while Priyanshu took 2 wickets and Manu and Ishan took 1 wicket each. In reply Carbean XI chased the given target Carribean XI scored of 80 runs in 7 overs. Abhimanyu Sharma was the highest scorer with 35 runs whereas Aditya scored 21 runs while Aditya Chopra took 1 wicket. Carribean XI won by 9 wickets.
