JAMMU, Mar 11: Taking up some genuine issues of SC community of the State with Union Minister, Dr Jitendra Singh here, today, BJP State spokesperson, Balbir Ram Rattan handed over two copies of two separate performa for Scheduled Caste certificates for jobs in State and Central Government departments to him showing the official apathy towards the lakhs of these hapless people belonging to the down-trodden community in the State.
Balbir Ram Rattan also took up a number of issues with the Union Minister at his Jammu Office, here which have been causing lot of inconvenience, hardship and embarrassment to lakhs of people of the community.
Balbir, while taking up the issues, told Dr. Jitendra Singh that in J&K any member of SC community who wants to apply for State Government job has to procure a category certificate on one performa while he or she has to get similar certificate on a different performa to be eligible for a reserved post in Central Government Department. In other words, SCs have to get two certificates of being member of the said community.
Not only this, the SCs in the State have to apply for fresh category certificate under new SRO after every 12-15 years, Balbir told Dr. Jitendra Singh, adding that for this particular issue, BJP national vice-president & J&K Prahbari Avinash Rai Khanna has also written to the State Governor. Such a treatment to the SCs in the State is also violation of human rights and need to be understood with a human approach.
The State does not have even Scheduled Caste Commission, which is most unfortunate and none in the past has raised the issue, he added.
Balbir further informed Dr. Jitendra Singh that many times, the scholarship to SC students in particular, is not released on time as a result of which the poor students suffer, who are otherwise intelligent and hard working but leave their studies halfway due to the poor financial condition of their parents.
Dr. Jitendra Singh expressed surprise over such practices in the State and said that it has happened for the first time that someone has come forward to highlight the plight of the SCs and the issues put before him need to be redressed once and for ever. He assured to take up the same at the appropriate level so that the suffering community gets relief.
