JAMMU, Mar 18: Expressing deep concern over apathetic attitude of the PDP-BJP Government towards accumulated problems of Kashmiri migrants, languishing in Jammu and elsewhere in the country, National Conference today sought fast-track recruitment process for filling up vacancies under the Prime Minister’s Package and resolution of various issues like renovation of dilapidated colonies in a time-bound manner.
“No forward movement has been registered over the past two years with regard to recruitment of migrants despite availability of posts, as a result of which unemployed educated youth are hugely suffering from feeling of alienation”, former MLC, Vijay Bakaya said while addressing functionaries of  the National Conference Minority Cell at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhavan here this afternoon.
Bakaya, who is also political advisor to National Conference president Dr Farooq Abdullah, recounted the initiatives taken especially during the tenure of  Omar Abdullah as Chief Minister for providing jobs to migrant youth and mitigating problems of non-camp and camp dwellers. He hoped that the Coalition Government will pick up the thread, without indulging in rhetoric and get into vibrant mode to resolve issues confronted to the migrants.
He expressed dismay over highly dilapidated condition of tenements at Jagati and other colonies, saying that despite repeated pleas, the Coalition Government seems to be unconcerned. He also highlighted the issues pertaining to migrant employees working in the Valley and hoped that apart from instilling sense of security, all necessary facilities will be provided to them.
Referring to the ensuing by polls to Srinagar and Anantnag Parliamentary Constituencies, the former MLC exuded confidence that sagacious migrant voters will exercise their democratic right carefully so that their voice reaches vociferously in the highest democratic forum of the country.
Speaking on the occasion, additional general secretary Dr Sheikh Mustafa Kamaal said that Kashmiri Pandits were integral to the Valley’s glorious ethos and the majority community has been yearning for their return. “Despite unfortunate situation, the bonds of trust between various segments of Kashmir society remain intact”, Dr  Kamaal said, adding that this is the real strength of the state, which is known for its inclusiveness and glorious heritage.
Senior leaders Rattan Lal Gupta, Ex- MLC  Kashmira Singh, former minister Abdul Gani Malik, Ex-MLC Bhushan Lal Bhat, MK Yogi and Jatin Bhat also spoke on the occasion.
