JAMMU Nov 29: National Conference leader and former MLC,  Vijay Bakaya today sought voting rights for the eligible Kashmiri Pandit voters to the proposed elections to Panchayat and Local Bodies at the places they are registered as migrants to avail of civic and other amenities.
“There is confusion whether Kashmiri Pandit migrant voters could vote in the Jammu province where they are mostly registered”,  Bakaya said during his interaction with Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Shaleen Kabra here.
The CEO discussed the matter at length and pointed out that the KP migrant voters were required to vote in the Urban Bodies/ Panchayat elections in the same manner as for the Assembly and Parliament elections. However, he assured that he would examine this issue soon.
Bakaya said that he would submit a representation in this behalf to bring about procedural changes to make voting simpler.
The CEO assured that the matter was already under examination,  Bakaya added.
