Baisakhi celebrated with zeal by educational institutions

JAMMU, Apr 13: Baisakhi, the harvest festival of Punjab and Haryana, was celebrated today with great zeal and fervor by various educational institutions across Jammu.
Modern Montessori International Pre School celebrated Baisakhi with great enthusiasm in the school premises. The children were dressed in colourful attires and the school was decorated beautifully depicting the Punjabi culture. Different forms of Punjabi dances like Bhangra and Gidda were performed on the occasion. The whole atmosphere was filled with festive celebrations. Children were explained about the importance of Baisakhi by Principal of the school, Pragya Gupta.
KC International School celebrated Baisakhi with great fervour and enthusiasm. The whole ambience of the school was reverberating with the joy of festivity and rejuvenation. A floral tribute was given to Dr BR Ambedkar on his birth anniversary. It was followed by talk and poem on his life history and his contribution to the Nation. Students recited poems on Baisakhi followed by a song and a colourful Punjabi dance performance.
GD Goenka Public School, Jammu organized Baisakhi celebration in Goenkan Acres. The students of classes I and II, dressed in colorful Punjabi traditional attires sang songs and danced to the tunes of Bhangra. The school was decorated with cutouts of colorful buntings. Children were explained about the importance of the festival by showcasing the Punjabi culture. Dhol beats and Punjabi folk music added to the excitement.
Rich Harvest School, Bari Brahmana celebrated Baisakhi and Dr BR Ambedkar’s birth anniversary with zeal and fervor. Students of the school recited Shabads, taking everyone into the world of devotion and spirituality. This was followed by speeches by the apprentices on the historical importance of Baisakhi Day. Along with this, homage was also paid to Dr Ambedkar on his birthday.
Baisakhi celebration was also held in The Shri Ram Universal School, Jammu, where under the community outreach program, a learning journey to Bandrali, Jakh was organized for the students of Form- 4 and Form -5. The students were made to interact with the local farmers and interview them based on the questionnaire prepared by all the students. Students enjoyed the company of the farmers who in return were over whelmed by the presence of the students.
Students of APS Kaluchak celebrated Baisakhi with fervor in the premises of the school. A special assembly was organized to mark this auspicious festival. Students across classes I- XII assembled a resplendent pageant of art, music, dance and drama with profuse alacrity. A speech was delivered in order to accustom the students with the relevance of the festival. Dressed in typical folk attire, the jubilant senior students danced to the tunes of Bhangra which beguiled the audience.
New Young Blood Organization organized a programme of Baisakhi at Purmandal Morh, Jammu. RR Raina, president, Sangram Sena, was the chief guest on the occasion, where fruits, sweets and ice-cream were distributed among 200 kids. Chairman of the organization, Ashok Verma, announced that the organization is planning a blood donation camp at SMGS Hospital, Jammu on May 5.
A day before 128th birthday of Baba Sahib Dr BR Ambedekar, the Jammu University SC/ST Employees’ Association organized a grand function to pay homage to the great leader. All the members paid floral tributes to Ambedkar by showering petals on his photo and distributing sweets among the attendees. Thereafter, the Association honoured Dr Jeet Lal Bazaala, Munshi Ram Bangotra, Krishan Lal Atrri and Ayudhia Lal with ‘Dr BR Ambedkar Awards’.
