JAMMU, Jan 2: 3rd Additional Sessions Judge Kishore Kumar today rejected the bail application of one Ashfaq Ahmed Khan, who is an advocate by profession and was allegedly booked by the police in a rape case.
After hearing both the sides, the court observed, “Additional Public Prosecutor has argued that the Advocates are the role model of the society and the accused has committed a very heinous offence which carries punishment of more than 10 years or up to life imprisonment”.
“To grant the bail to an Advocate will definitely demoralize the prosecution witnesses and the confidence of the public at large will be shattered. I am in agreement with the submission of the APP that Advocates are the role model of the society and owes a high responsibility in the society”, 3rd Additional Sessions Judge said.
“The grant of bail in this case may shake the confidence of the society in the criminal judicial system”, the court said while rejecting the bail application.
