Baba Ghulam Shah Memorial Lecture Series begins at BGSBU

RAJOURI, Apr 23: Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University Rajouri organized first Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah Memorial Lecture.
Prof Javed Musarrat, Vice Chancellor BGSBU, formally inaugurated the lecture series, under which a special lecture shall be held after every three months interval.
Prof Ayaz Rasool Nazki delivered the first lecture on the theme: ‘Sufism: Its Scope & Significance in the Contemporary World’.
Prof Nazki, who also happens to the founder Registrar of BGSBU, spoke in depth on Sufism with special reference to the Rishi and Sufi culture of Kashmir. He said that in the present times, Sufism continues to exist in varying degrees in almost all the countries. He said that Kashmir represents a unique blend of Rishi and Sufi culture based on mutual acceptance, tolerance and non violence.
Prof   Nazki said that Kashmir’s response to Islam was not decided in battle field but won over through ideas. He said that a return to the Rishi wisdom at this crucial juncture of the Kashmir history may show the way.
On this occasion, Vice-Chancellor Prof Javed Musarrat also released the newly published book of the Prof Nazki,   “Satisar: The Valley of Demons”.
Earlier Prof Iqbal Parwez, Registrar BGSBU,   highlighted the achievements of Prof Nazki in the field of Art and Literature and also his contribution as the founder Registrar of BGSB University. He informed that in this lecture series many eminent scholars from within and outside the country shall be invited to share their experiences with the teachers and the students of the University.
Khalid Hussain, eminent writer of the State, also spoke on the occasion. Dr Romina Rashid, HoD English BGSBU presented the book review. Prof Naseem Ahmed, Dean School of Management Studies presented a formal vote of thanks.  Danish Iqbal Raina conducted the proceedings of the programme. Heads, Faculty members, Scholars and students from various departments were present on this occasion.
