Azad seeks action against Geelani

JAMMU, Jan 29: Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha and former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Ghulam Nabi Azad today strongly denounced hardline Hurriyat Conference chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani’s attempt to glorify the killers of Colonel MN Rai, who was martyred in gunfight with militants at Tral in Pulwama district on Tuesday.
“This is a condemnable time. This is time now for the Government to take action against the separatists especially Geelani for his attempt to glorify the militants, who killed the Army Colonel,’’ Azad said in an informal chat with, media here this morning.
“The separatists are protecting their sons by sending them for studies abroad or other parts of the country but were provoking the common Kashmiri man to join militancy. This is ridiculous. The people of Kashmir should understand the nefarious plot of the separatists and thwart their designs,’’ Azad, who was here to file his nomination papers for Rajya Sabha seat yesterday, said.
Asserting that action should be taken against the separatists for glorifying the killers of the Army officers, Azad called upon the Government to see through the designs of the separatists and act against them.
