Ayera Chisti of J&K bags gold

JAMMU, Mar 30: Ayera Chisti of Jammu and Kashmir won first gold medal for Jammu and Kashmir in the Sanshou girls event of the ongoing 17th Sub- Junior National Wushu Championship, bei-ng organized by the Wushu Association of J&K at Indoor Complex, MA Stadium, here.
Pakiza secured silver medal, while Ansa, Marukh and Ansa Chisti claimed bronze medals in their respective weight categories.
In boys category, a good number of athletes have reached semifinal bouts stage.
Today the medals were distributed among the winners of Taolu events.
The medals were distributed by Vijay Saraf, Vice President Wushu Association of India, Suhel Ahmed, general secretary of Wushu Association of India, Dr Vikram Handa, Satish Kumar, Sourab Saraf, Shambu Seth and Kuldeep Handoo.
The semifinal and final bouts will be played tomorrow, which will be followed by the closing ceremony of the Championship at 4:30 pm at Police Auditorium, Jammu.
Dr SP Vaid, DGP J&K Police will be the chief guest on the occasion.
The athletes from all the participating 37 state units are displaying extraordinary skills and are showing serenity, composure and promise to vie for the top honours.
