AWWA highlights demands

JAMMU, July 10: Anganwari Workers’ Welfare Association (AWWA), Jammu province highlighted their burning demands like enhancement in honorarium and release of pending salary, in a press conference held here today.
While speaking on the occasion, Swarna Choudhary, president, AWWA Jammu province, stressed upon the Government to concede the long pending demands of the Anganwari workers and Helpers, who are struggling for their rights.
Reiterating their demands like release of pending salary, declaration of Anganwari workers and Helpers as Government employees, providing minimum wages to Anganwari Workers and Helpers till their regularization, implementation of security benefits like EPF, ESI, Gratuity and pension, proper, enhancement of honorarium, increasing promotion quota for Anganwari workers from 50% to 100% by considering proper seniority and providing proper nutrition to all centers, the AWWA president stressed upon the Government to fulfill their demands without any delay.
General secretary of AWWA Jammu province, Neelam Sharma, recalled that a meeting of representatives of Anganwari workers was held in the past with the then Minister of Social Welfare Department and it was agreed upon to increase the promotion quota of Supervisor up to 75% and enhancement of honorarium in the State share but orders in this connection was not passed by the department till date.
Sharma stressed upon the Government to provide seasonal holidays to Anganwari workers and Helpers, frame retirement policy for them and give Rs 5 lakh to Anganwari workers and Rs 3 lakh to Helpers as retirement benefits after their retirement. She said the association is going to submit its charter of demands to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and J&K Governor NN Vohra.
