JAMMU, Mar 8: A delegation of Anganwari Workers’ Welfare Association (AWWA) led by Subhash Verma, president, Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh, and Ashok Choudhary, general secretary, met Sajad Lone, Minister for Social Welfare Department and apprised him of burning demands of Anganwari workers and helpers.
The delegation discussed in detail all the demands of the association with the Minister. The Minister assured the delegation that Government Order No 268 related to retirement of Anganwari workers and helpers will be withdrawn.
It was also assured to the delegation that departmental promotion quota for Anganwari workers to Supervisors will be increased more than 50% to maximum limit while increase of honorarium of Anganwari workers and helpers is under consideration and the issue will be taken up with Minister for Finance shortly. The Minister further assured the association that pending salary of Anganwari workers and helpers will be released shortly.
Swarna Devi, AWWA president, Neelam Sharma, general secretary, Rekha Devi, Koshaliya Devi, Babli Devi, etc were also part of the delegation.
