AWAJ organizes folk, light music programme

JAMMU, Nov 29: All Artists Welfare Association Jammu (AWAJ) today organized a folk and light music programme at K L Saigal Hall here.
On the occasion Dr Aziz Hajni secretary J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages was the chief guest while V K Singh Sambyal Station Director Radio Kashmir, Jammu presided over the function.
Dr Aziz Hajni, while complimenting the Association and the artists who performed in the programme said that Artists of the Jammu region especially the girls and women have more than enough talent in all the fields of performing art. Dr Hajni also encouraged these artists and urged them to keep practice going on in order to create space for themselves in the national and international scenario,
V K Singh Sambyal while appreciating the efforts of association said the artists are doing very wonderful job especially in the field of music by providing the platform to the budding and the semi professional to showcase their hidden talent.
He also blessed the artists to keep the same zeal and enthusiasm for the promotion and development of Dogri music which has a distinct identity especially in the Bhakh, Karkan and Baran.
Earlier Dr Kamal Sharma president of AWAJ in his welcome address disclosed the aim and objective of association and the various cultural activities to be organized in near future. He also apprised the gathering about the difficulties being faced by the artists of every field to which they become depressed especially not paying them the due attention by the concerned institution.
Dr Sudhir Mahajan general secretary of the Association presented vote of thanks. He also assured the artists that the Association will leave no stone unturned to unite them for their welfare.
The artists who regaled the audience with their melodious voice included Santosh Bandral, Sudesh Mahajan, Seema Dogra, Noorin Bhat while Ajay Khajuria, Sidharath Bogal and Krishna Bharti mesmerized them with their magic of playing the villain.
Yash Pal Yash a noted music composer of the State, Satish Latotra and Rakesh Khana accompanied on Harmonium, Tabla and flute. The programme was conducted by Anju Jamwal.
Er Vijay Sharma, Baljeet Singh Raina, , Daya Ram Daya, Ravi Tickoo and others also attended the programme.
