JAMMU, Sept 29: Due to complete blockage of approach road and extensive damage to Shree Chandra Gufa complex because of massive landslide on the intervening night of Monday-Tuesday, this week, religious and social activities at this site have come to a sudden halt.
The devotees are at pain as the blockade is unlikely to be removed soon owing to massive landslide and delay in initiating work by the concerned authorities for clearing pathway to the cave by removing debris.
Shree Chandra Gufa Sadhana Mandir located on the right bank of river Tawi below Circular road, Panjtirthi, Jammu, has been an abode of many saints, particularly Shree Chandra Swami Ji Udasin who has been there since 1953.
People of all walks of life visit the place from within and outside the State for multifarious social and religious activities. The devotees attend meditation sessions of one hour duration each four times a day here regularly.
On the intervening night of 24th & 25th September 2018 around 12:15 AM, Chandra Gufa Sadhna Mandir witnessed very loud thundering noise and found complete hillock coming down within the premises damaging the approach road and building extensively, though there was no loss to human life.
The devotees visiting regularly have their religious sentiments connected to Shree Chandra Gufa Sadhna Mandir and have urged the concerned authorities for assessment of loss and immediate remedial measures.
