Aurangzeb system of rule of succession suits Congress, mocks Modi

DHARAMPUR, Gujarat, Dec 4:  Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday slammed Congress for showing desperation in making “man free on bail” Rahul Gandhi as the national president of the party and maintained that such ‘Aurangzeb Raj’ suits the Congress befittingly.
Referring to remarks from senior Congress leader Manishankar Aiyar that no election had taken place to decide on the successor to emperor Jahangir or Shah Jahan after him, the Prime Minister said, “Yeh Aurangzeb Raj unko mubarak (Such Aurangzeb system rule of succession suits Congress)”.
Criticising the move to make Mr Gandhi the Congress president, Mr Modi said, “Other parties would re-think even to make a man out on bail a block president but the Congress party is going ahead to make such a man their national president.”
“Manishankar Aiyar’s statement makes it clear that the Congress party believes that only dynastic rule should prevail,” he said. Trying to strike an emotional chord with voters, Mr Modi said, “A party that is wedded to corruption is unable to tolerate Narendra Modi for a minute”.
Seeking to play up emotive card with the local electorate, he reminded voters that Morarji Desai, who hailed from Valsad district, was arrested by the Congress regime during Emergency and put behind bars for 19 months.
For the voters of Gujarat and the Valsad district, time has come to punish those who kept on hurling insults on Gujarat. “Gujarat nu badnam karna band karo (Stop insulting Gujarat),” he said the Congress always presumed that people of Gujarat should be insulted and shown in poor light.”
They did not do this with Bihar, Uttar Pradesh or West Bengal. What offence we did, was it our offence that we produced Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel,” he said. (UNI)
