CHANDIGARH, Jan 9: Going a step ahead in revolutionizing the knee replacement surgery scenario in India, the Director & Head, Max Elite Institute of Orthopedics and Joint Replacement, Max Hospitals Mohali, Bathinda and Dehradun, Dr Manuj Wadhwa today launched Attune knee system.
Attune is a revolutionary new customized knee system which is literally ‘in tune ‘with the body’s dynamics, making each day of life a pleasure. This system was launched in America last year with great success and it is now available in India for the first time.
DePuy Orthopaedics, Inc, a global leader in devices for joint replacement, has developed this implant that gives stability throughout range of motion from straight leg to bent knee, said Dr Wadhwa.
The discomforts with the implants have been well overcome in the Attune system by using the highest quality, toughened and advanced plastic. The entire system has been especially designed and patented, he added.
According to Dr Wadhwa, the system has a patented design gradius curve or gradually reducing radius that allows implant to replicate bending movement and rotation of a natural knee. This means that patients with Attune are able to bend, climb stairs, get in and out of a car and play sports with complete confidence as though they never had any problem with their knee at all, he added.
Similarly, its component Sofcam ensures that there is no undue stress on implant whether patient is standing, sitting, bending, walking or doing any other activity while Logilock Tibial Base plate ensures that this implant has lowest amount of micro-motion and wear, he further elaborated.
Glideright technology, AOX Polyethylene and Intuition instruments are other patented technologies that make Attune most advanced knee system in world, said Dr Wadhawa.
