Attempts to polarize people: DyCM

SRINAGAR, Feb 2:  Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh today said that attempts are being made to polarize people in the State.
Speaking to reporters today on the sidelines of a Government function at Srinagar’s Banquet Hall, Singh said that BJP and PDP have clear views on the Article 370 and some people are trying to create polarization.
“Attempts are being made to polarise (people) in Jammu and Kashmir. Everyone knows the BJP stand on Article 370 of the Constitution and everyone knows the issues of PDP. We have discussed everything on the basis of Agenda of Alliance that is why we took three months to form the Government,” he said, referring to Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti’s statement on Article 370 in the House last week.
The Deputy Chief Minister further said that the PDP-BJP have maintained that these (Article 370) issues would be kept aside and “we will focus on giving people a good and transparent Government which could work for the development and we have the mandate for it”. “If there is a discussion on it, then people will also feel good,” he added.
Dr Singh defended Speaker’s decision to adjourn Assembly sine die even as six days were left for the session and blamed Opposition for being disinterested in its continuation.
The Deputy Chief Minister said the business in the Assembly was almost over. “There were some routine matters but the way opposition created ruckus, attacked employees in which a marshal was injured and furniture was damaged, it looked like the opposition was not interested in continuation of the Assembly because they had no issues,” he said.
Dr Singh said “we told them that this (PDP-BJP alliance) is a governance alliance and if you have any issues on governance raise them and highlight the shortcomings but the way the situation developed, the Speaker took (adjourning sine die) this decision”.
