JAMMU, Jan 23: Murderous assault on the life of DFO Jammu Arshdeep Singh by the timber mafia at Chatta, Sunjwan in Jammu, reported exclusively by the Excelsior today, figured in both Houses of the Legislature.
In the Assembly, BJP MLA Ravinder Raina displayed copy of the Excelsior and demanded stern action against the timber mafia.
“This is a serious issue. The timber mafia has tried to kill the DFO Jammu. The Government should take the matter seriously, identify the mafia and take action against them,” Raina said before start of the Question Hour.
He called upon the Government to take all steps to crush timber mafia in the State.
In the Legislative Council, Congress MLA Naresh Gupta took up the issue of attack on the Forest official by the timber mafia.
Gupta described the issue as “very serious” and sought a statement from the Government on the activities of timber mafia.
