Atleast women politicians should support ‘Triple Talaq Bill’: Dr Jitendra

Excelsior Correspondent
NEW DELHI, Dec 31: Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh said here today that atleast the women politicians should support the “Triple Talaq Bill” brought in Parliament by the Modi Government.
He was responding to queries by media persons on the sidelines of a press briefing about some of the major achievements of the year 2018 that ends today.
Without naming Mehbooba Mufti, Dr Jitendra Singh said, it is appalling to see some of the prominent women politicians also throwing their weight behind those who are opposing the abolition of Triple Talaq, which only betrays their intention of placing political expediency above gender equality.
Dr Jitendra Singh expressed surprise that if even the women politicians, who seek votes in the name of women empowerment, demonstrate such a strong gender bias against their own species, then what moral authority do they have to claim to be protagonists of women’s cause.
Among a series of revolutionary decisions taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which no other Prime Minister ever dared to venture in the past, Dr Jitendra Singh said, the Triple Talaq legislation is the one which will not only bring relief to a large number of silently suffering Muslim women of India but would also redeem the legislative harakiri committed by the Rajiv Gandhi led Congress in the context of Shah Bano case.
The most hilarious part of this entire sequence of events, Dr Jitendra Singh said, is that the Congress party and its allies publicly claim that they are not opposed to Triple Talaq Bill but once they are inside the Parliament House, they make sure that the process for passage of the Bill gets stalled so that it may not become a law. This has exposed the duplicity of these parties and the people of India will not forgive them for this, he added.
