JAMMU, Feb 24: Police worked out the theft case of Mannapuram Gold Loan Company with the arrest of two persons including Assistant Branch Head of the company along with stolen gold ornaments worth over Rs 15.174 crore.
This was disclosed by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu Dr SDS Jamwal while interacting with media persons, here today.
Giving details of the case, IGP said that on February 20, Head of Mannapuram Gold Loan Company namely Pankaj Chib, son of Suram Singh, a resident of Roop Nagar Enclave lodged a complaint with police post Bhatindi stating that some unidentified persons barged into the company’s branch at Malik Market and decamped with gold ornaments worth crores and cas.
Acting over the complaint, a case under relevant Sections was registered at Trikuta Nagar police station and investigation started.
“During the course of investigation, police picked up Assistant Branch Head Sunil Kumar and during questioning he broke down and confessed to commit the theft along with his two associates including former employee of the bank. On his disclosure, police conducted raid in Punjab and arrested the former employee of the company, who has been identified as Sangram Singh”, Jamwal informed.
During further investigation, the accused disclosed that how they planned and hacked conspiracy at Punjab to commit theft in the company’s branch at Malik Market along with their one more associate, who was known to Sangram Singh, IGP said, after coming from Punjab, the trio commit theft with the help of duplicate keys, which Sangram had made, when he was working in the company.
Police recovered the stolen 10.230 kilograms gold worth Rs 15,174,455 on the disclosure of the arrested accused, IGP said, adding that hunt is going on to arrest their associate, who is still at large.
Police team led by SHO Trikuta Nagar Inspector Bharat Bhushan and assisted by Incharge Bhatindi police post SI Arun Bhagat solved the theft case and made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO East Arun Jamwal, SP South Sandeep Choudhary and Incharge SSP Jammu Dr Vinod Kumar.
