Association for Welfare of Senior Citizens holds AGM

JAMMU, Nov 28:  Annual General Body Meeting (AGM) was held by Association for Welfare of Senior Citizens and H B Khajuria, senior patron presided over it. On the onset two minutes silence was observed by the members, as a mark of respect for the departed soul of late Vikram Gour Patron.
A K Arora, president delivered the welcome address ,wherein he gave a detailed account of activities undertaken by the Association for the welfare of senior citizens and also briefly mentioned the activities proposed for the near future, such as, visiting old age homes, conducting awareness program among younger generation, to inculcate in them the family value system.
He also emphasized the need for vigorously pursuing the  J&K Government for enactment of the Central Act for ‘Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens’,  and providing old age homes in all the districts of the State, keeping in view the present plight of senior citizens due to withering of joint family system.
R C Gupta presented the annual report and P P Mengi presented the details of accounts.
Chander Gulati spoke on the occasion and strongly advocated the need for provision of health insurance to senior citizens.
H N Patwari spoke on the need of educating elders to be technology savvy.
A short film on elder’s abuse ‘Muntazir’ produced by J&K State Social Welfare Board, under the guidance of Nimal Gupta  chairperson, was shown to the members present.
Shashi Kant Goswami gave a power point presentation on nutrition, for senior citizens, to maintain good health.
Super senior citizens namely, Bal Krishan Mangotra, Mohinder Nath Kajooria, and Sham Lal Sharma were honored with mementos on the occasion.
H N Kajooria senior patron gave the concluding address and K K Mahajan vice president presented the vote of thanks.
