Arunachal -A Hindu State ?

Shiban Khaibri
The immediate cause of concern, anxiety and perturb in comparison to numerous problems faced by the country was in respect of Arunachal Pradesh being “converted into a Hindu state” by the present government. Not only this, it is claimed, “The rich tradition and the culture of the indigenous tribe of the Arunachal Pradesh are at stake under the BJP rule.” These fears have been expressed by the Congress Party, presently under political convalescence. This grand old Party is carrying a tag of being spellbindingly secular and always feigning to be very much restless for the welfare, prosperity and a well maintained rate of growth of all   minorities in India particularly those forming a formidable traditional vote bank for it. This policy, the Party has consistently pursued especially from the day Jawahar Lal Nehru took the reins of this country in his hands in 1947, down to his great grandson who shows the “promise” of outpacing the “secular legacy” of his great grandpa. Minister of state for Home, Kiren Rijiju took it on the twitter and very aptly but factually wrote that Hindu population was reducing in India because Hindus never converted people. Minorities in India were flourishing unlike in other countries around. Rijiju further said that Congress should not make such provocative statements. India was a secular country , all religious groups enjoyed  freedom and were living peacefully.
Remember, in an atmosphere of the country reeling under and admittedly bleeding, at times profusely due to Jihadi terror for three decades, Rahul Gandhi contested the views of the American Ambassador Timothy Roemer by saying that the greatest threat to India was from the radicalized Hindu groups. These views of the Congress Party’s heir apparent were shared by him on     August 3, 2009 with the Ambassador in a dinner party hosted by Dr. Manmohan Singh for visiting secretary of state Hillary Clinton. The Ambassador was in a way sympathizing with India on Lashkar-e-Toiba’s activities in the region and India  facing the “immediate threat” and that there was evidence of  some  support for the group among certain elements in India’s indigenous Muslim  community . He had also told Rahul Ji that the risk of the “home grown” extremist front reacting to terror attacks coming from Pakistan was a growing concern and one that demanded constant attention. Mr. Rahul contradicted Roemer’s views and told him that the biggest threat was not from LeT but from the “radicalized Hindu groups”.
How much change in the thinking on such perverted lines could be expected from the Congress Party all these eight years since Rahul Gandhi’s statement was anyone’s guess excepting more of it from its leadership hence Arunachal Pradesh was becoming a Hindu state as per their latest political shell, fired to ostensibly impress the electorate of Manipur going to polls shortly, if not the UP poll in entirety. The Party has no inhibitions in castigating and demeaning the majority community living for thousands of years in India practicing unparalleled tolerance and accommodative characteristics, no where seen in comparison in the world. It is not comprehensible as to how and on what basis this irresponsible statement has come from the “secular” Party and what is meant by a Hindu state in the parlance of the oldest Indian political Party. The change of government in this North East state took place on Dec 16, 2016 , the BJP came into power and for the first time.  What magic wand has the new government there used in just two months to turn the state into a Hindu state is better known to Congress alone. Hypothetically speaking, even if it is a Hindu majority state, which it is not, why should it disturb the sleep of the Congress ? Should Hindus not feel that the word Hindu is just a sort of loathsome entity for Congress which must, as a natural corollary, be felt egregious in its tone and perception?
Now just let us take the official census figures compiled under the Congress rule in respect of Arunachal Pradesh. Statistics of 2001 show Hindus in the state at 35% while in 2011, they dipped to 29%. Christians, on the other hand were 18.7% as on 2001 who increased to nearly 31% in 2011. Congress did not raise hue and cry over the drop in the population of Hindus charging its own Party cadre for converting the state into a Christian or a Muslim state and when they are out of power and the Hindu population is decreasing as per the statistics, they should raise such issues having connotations to polarize the society, to keep sections engrossed in senseless antagonistic inter-se feelings. Should they feel happy at Hindus getting marginalized and constantly heading towards overall minority in the country? If yes, the question is who was going to benefit with it and how was the country and the nation put at advantageous position, put united and strengthened. Why then should this Party unnecessarily charge the British of “divide and rule” policy when in fact, they not only believe in that policy but apparently practice the same, yet keep the mendacity of preaching secularism?
To discuss such issues instead of the most pressing ones confronting the country is not only unfortunate but it speaks volumes about how the old Party practices secularism.  Not long ago, Arunachal Pradesh was 91% Hindu , whose hearts shall feel heavy to see them plummeted to 29% or even less as on date but just in two months rule of the BJP , they are making it a  Hindu majority state as per Congress Party  seems laughable and loaded with spreading discord between the sections of the people . When Hindus were converted by force, by enticing with money power and by the enactment of “serving the poor and the destitute” drama etc; Congress never talked about such evangelistic campaign launched by Christian missionaries, least never raised any hue and cry.  The issue cannot be taken lightly always by those who as a routine, are used as baits for sustenance of secularism in India.
Gandhi Ji was assassinated, Indira Ji , Rajiv Ji  too were assassinated. Why is Rahul Gandhi repeatedly raising the issue of 68 years old that RSS had killed Gandhi, when it had not? He never talks about other assassinations, why? Were Indira Ji and Rajiv Ji any less important? Why does Rahul Gandhi not talk about their assassins, why only about Gandhi?  It is precisely because using Gandhi’s name, he wants to revile and demean the RSS to appease his Party’s traditional vote bank. We do not know how, when and under what circumstances Neta Ji Subash  Bose died. There are certain question marks raised about Lal Bhadur Shastri’s death too. Rahul Gandhi never talks about their deaths which looks fishy and conspicuous in efficacy.
Congress is in opposition and they have to accept it and live with it . It is their abundant duty to endear their Party to the people by rising above their traditional policies like the one pursued as under reference. Let it be unhesitatingly accepted that Pakistan has succeeded in its nefarious designs against this country by increasingly using to the hilt the religious card , rather die hard fanaticism card  through proxy war and now almost every day there is an encounter between terrorists and the security forces in Kashmir  wherein many of our brave hearts attain martyrdom . There are people in thousands taking eulogizing marches in support of terrorists, chanting religious and Aazadi slogans. They even under organized strategy, stone to injure and prevent the security forces to take on the terrorists who hide in local houses and from there fire at the Indian forces. This scenario must disturb everyone in the country including the Congress. Had there been the population tilted not entirely on one side, neither Pakistan would have been that successful in its detestable activities nor would have been nationalist and secular forces   totally eclipsed there, not to speak of any proxy war or causalities of our security forces taking place. A suggestion to the Congress Party is to seriously think over it and in the mean time, feel that they needed   to go in for penitence.
