SAMBA, Feb 14: A meting of Congress workers was held at Bari Brahmana under the leadership of senior Congress leader Arun Kumar Sharma for highlighting the local issues and discussing the measures to further strengthening the party at grass root level, especially in the Kandi belt.
A number of Congress workers from Bari Brahmana, Palli, Smailpur, Bari, Badori, Tabela, Barjani, Kartholi and Sarore participated in the workers meet.
Some prominent Congress workers in the meeting drew attention towards the problems being faced by people due to insensitive attitude of the State Government and concerned authorities.  They highlighted the public grievances like bad conditions of rural roads, irregular power and water supply, non-availability of teachers in village schools and virtually no transportation in several Kandi belts.
While addressing the meeting, Arun Sharma charged the BJP-PDP Government with failure on all fronts and said that people were repenting for their vote to these two parties during the last Assembly elections.  “BJP has not only failed to come upto the expectation of people but this party has also surrendered the dignity of Jammu before Kashmir for its power lust,” he alleged.
Maintaining that only Congress can provide a pro-people   and secular Government in J&K, Arun Sharma exhorted the party workers to gear up for the forthcoming Panchayat elections, which are likely to be announced soon in the State.  He said that Congress is the only party, which has acceptability in all three regions of the State because of its commitment towards welfare of common masses and secularism.
Arun Sharma also reiterated his resolve to leave no stone unturned for highlighting the grievances of general public of Samba district and announced that   he would soon launch a door to door campaign in entire district for rejuvenating the party.
