JAMMU, Oct 1: Supporting Mohan Bhagwat’s statement that Article 370 is an obstacle in the progress of Jammu and Kashmir, former Minister and NCP Chief J&K, Thakur Randhir Singh lauded the efforts of Armed Forces, Paramilitary and J&K Police in dealing with the militancy and ceasefire violation by Pakistan in the State.
The veteran leader said that much needs to be done to bring the State of Jammu and Kashmir to the mainstream, adding that necessary constitutional amendments will have to be made and old provisions will have to be changed.
He said the abrogation of Article 370 and 35 (A) is the lasting solution that the residents of Jammu and Kashmir can be completely assimilated with rest of India and their equal cooperation and share will be possible in the national progress.
Singh said that the regions of Jammu and Ladakh have been receiving step-motherly treatment from the previous Governments, adding that the people expect good show from the present Government.
“Discriminatory provisions have stopped refugees in the state from getting their rights,” Singh added.
