Art Competition for Special Children held

SRINAGAR, May 15: Voluntary Medicare Society organised Inter School Drawing Competition and fun fare for patients with spinal injuries at Bemina Srinagar with the aim to provide a platform to highlight creativity amongst special children and patients with spinal injuries to boost their self-confidence.
A statement issued here said the event was aimed at creating awareness among the general public that given an equal opportunity, children with intellectual disability and physically challenged are equally talented.
Special Children from Shafaqat Special School, Chotay Taray and Composite Regional Centre participated in the event.
Renowned artist Nawshad Gayoor was the judge and he supervised the competition.
While inaugurating the competition Nawshad emphasized the need for conducting work shop for these special children as they have ability to express themselves through the Art. “Art is also used as therapy for these children”, he added.
He lauded the role of Voluntary Medicare Society for their efforts to empower physically challenged people.
Student from Chotay Taray was declared first, while Shafaqat Special School bagged second position and Special School of Composite Regional Centre got third position.
