Art 370, 35-A be abrogated: Chrungoo

JAMMU, Nov 14: Panun Kashmir (PK) organised a “Decade Event” programme at Jammu today in commemoration of the 50-day Kashmir Sankalp Yatra that was organised a decade back covering 11 States. The function was presided over by Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, president, PK.
The function was inaugurated by the prominent activists of daughters of Panun Kashmir.
On the occasion, the activists who took part in the earlier versions of the Kashmir Sankalp Yatra were honoured. The welcome address was presented by Virender Raina who gave a historical brief of the Yatra initiated by PK in November 2007. He also briefed regarding the commemoration of the Decade Event by conducting a tour of the Kashmir valley by Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo and Upinder Kaul.
Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, president-PK in his address said that the PK delegation first visited Veth Vatur (VETRAVATI)-Verinag, the original source of the river Vitasta (Jehlum). It was followed by paying visit to Devibal-Shailputri-Baramulla, Jeshta Devi Asthapan-Srinagar, Kheerbhawani-Ganderbal, Ganpatyar Temple-Habbakadal and Sheetalnath-Nai Sarak, Srinagar. He expressing concern over the condition of Veth Vatur and Shailputri-Devibal, he made a fervent appeal to the State Government to save these two important symbols of Kashmir’s heritage, history and culture. The delegation also paid rich tributes at the Samadhi of 1967 martyrs at the historic Sheetalnath Grounds.
Chrungoo said that the Article 370 and Article 35A have become an unnecessary baggage of the past errors of the rulers of India; there is a national consensus to review these absurd laws that are in contravention of the fundamental rights guaranteed under the Indian Constitution. They should be abrogated under the due process of law and the Constitution (Application to Jammu & Kashmir State) Order 14th May 1954, since was/is an intentional fraud, be also abrogated along with.”
R.K.Bhat, president, Youth AIKS complimented the role of PK leadership for taking the struggle in exile of the Kashmir Pandits to the new heights by organizing innovative and politically oriented initiatives. He said that the leadership plays a key role in making the society realize about its responsibilities by leading from the front.
Sardar Prem Singh Raina, President, Kashmir Displaced Sikh Forum in his address said that the KDSF has been doing a yeoman’s job in collaboration with P K for the last two decades.
A.K.Raina, vice president, AIKS in his speech said that the recently held tour of the whole Kashmir valley in two days time by the leadership of PK is really commendable. It has served the cause of Kashmir and peace in a big way, he added.
Upinder Kaul, general secretary presented a vote of thanks. J.L.Kaul, vice president-PK, Upinder Kaul, general secretary-PK, Vimla Chrungoo, secretary-DOPK, Kamal Bagati, general secretary (Org.), Virender Raina, organising secretary, Sameer Bhat, convener, Panun Kashmir Youth, Vijay Qazi, Vijay Saproo and Santosh Sharma also attended the function.
