Arrested HM militant was in contact with top comdrs: Police

Srinagar Mar 2: Police today said that the arrested Hizbul Mujahideen militant, Hilal Ahmad Bhat, was in close contact with top HM commanders in South Kashmir.
A police spokesman said that he had recently joined the militant ranks of HM outfit and was active in the general area of Awantipora and Pulwama. He was in close contact with HM commanders Zakir alias Musa and Reyaz Naikoo alias Zubair ul Islam.
The spokesman said that he was arrested by a joint team of Police and security forces in Gulzarpora area of Awantipora.
“Acting on a tip off regarding the presence of militants in Awantipora and Pulwama areas, Awantipora Police, Pulwama Police, CRPF and Army laid multiple joint Naka’s at different places. During the naka checking, one militant identified as Hilal Ahmad Bhat son of Late Mehraj Ud Din Bhat resident of Renzipora was apprehended by the joint party of Police and security forces at Dehwatoo Gulzarpora, Awantipora. On his search Arms /Ammunition and other incriminating material was recovered from his possession”, the spokesman said.
He said that a case (FIR number 24/2017  under section 20/38 ULA Act and 7/25 Arms Act) has been registered against him in Police Station Awantipora and investigation was taken up. He said more recoveries and arrests are expected.
The spokesman said that the arrested militant Wahid ahmed Ganaie son of Ghulam Qadir Ganaie of Tirch Kupwara was active for providing logistics, transportation to different militant groups operating  in north Kashmir.
