Arrested Cong worker killed in Anantnag

SRINAGAR, Dec 1:Army today said that it shot dead a militant in South Kashmir district of Anantnag and recovered a rifle from him.
Sajjad Malik alias Bita Malik of Batagund, Verinag in Anantnag district was killed by a party of 19 RR near Aagnoo village in Dooru this evening.
Malik was a former Sarpanch of Congress party who was picked up by the Police one and a half months back and was detained in Police Station Dooru. He had also been bailed by the court but was reportedly in the Police Station in some other offence. He is survived by wife and seven children, including 4 daughters.
Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) president G A Mir has demanded a judicial probe into the killing of Sajjad Ahmad Malik.
Mir alleged that Malik was dropped by a policeman in Aagno today where Army had been already informed to kill him.”It needs judicial enquiry as it is a custodial killing. Why is Mehbooba Mufti getting innocent people killed?”, he asked.
Sources said that he was arrested in 3-4 cases and was in the Police Station Dooru for over a month. He was a former militant and had left the militancy long back and was now full time political worker with Congress.
Sources said that for last few weeks he was desperate for his release but the police was not letting him off. Today he complained head ache and had high blood pressure. He was sent to hospital on a motor cycle with SPO Mashkoor Ahmad.
