Arrangements for Amarnath Yatra discussed

JAMMU, Apr 20: A high level meeting was convened by Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Dr Pawan Kotwal, to discuss the necessary arrangements required to be made for Shri Amarnathji Yatra.
Chief Executive Officer, Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB), P. K. Tripathi, also attended the meeting held for ensuring effective coordination for the Yatra.
The meeting was also attended by members of Civil Society, IGP, Jammu, IG (P) Traffic, DIG, Jammu-Kathua Range, SSP Jammu, Additional CEO, SASB, all concerned HoDs of the Division and Deputy Commissioners of Jammu, Samba, Udhampur and Ramban.
P K Tripathi informed the meeting that the 48 day Yatra will commence from July 2, and will be over on August 18, on Rakshabandan day.
Mr Tripathi appreciated the work done by the Administration and Civil Society during the Yatra last year and hoped that this time too, the Yatra would receive similar attention and co-operation. He said advance registration of yatries has already started from February 29, through 432 branches of Punjab National Bank, J&K Bank and YES Bank spread all over the country.
He further informed that in addition to advance registration, the intending Yatries have to furnish compulsory health certificate obtained from an authorized Doctor. Children below the age of 13 years and persons above the age of 75 years are not registered for Yatra. He urged the civil society to advise Yatris to secure advance registration well in time for the Yatra to avoid inconvenience.
The civil society members made various suggestions for better arrangements for the Yatries.
After discussions, it was decided that measures like round the clock water and electricity supply and sanitation at all identified places for the Yatra; issuance of Health Certificate at Ram Mandir / Geeta Bhawan; facilitate Yatries to undertake visit to tourism destinations within the region by ensuring adequate publicity; establishment of Cloak room at Yatri Niwas Jammu; foolproof security arrangements; transportation of Sadhus; emergency/ disaster management; setting up of temporary Langars; setting up of communication centers (BSNL); medical facilities/ medical team at Yatri Niwas and enroute National Highway; temporary toilets, mobile toilet vans in Bhagwati Nagar area would be taken.
