JAMMU/ SRINAGAR, June 23: Around 24, 000 aspirants appeared in the prestigious Jammu Kashmir Common Entrance Test (JKCET), on the first day across the State.
“In Jammu Kashmir Common Entrance Test (JKCET), nearly 11,000 candidates appeared in the Physics and Chemistry combination in the Jammu province, whereas, nearly 13,000 candidates appeared for the same combination at Kashmir province on the first day, official sources told Excelsior.
“The aspirants are competing for around 4,000 seats in various Government and private colleges of the State, for various professional courses including MBBS, BDS, BE, Veterinary Sciences, Agriculture, Forestry, Food Technology, etc.”, sources added.
Sources said that 10915 candidates appeared in the Physics combination and 10911 candidates in Chemistry combination in Jammu province, whereas, 12369 candidates appeared in Physics combination and 12,364 candidates in Chemistry combination at Kashmir province.
“There is rise in the graph of the candidates, as last year, around 18000 candidates appeared in the JKCET at 32 examination centres”, sources said, adding, that, as compared to last year, there is an increase of nearly 6,000 candidates this year, sources added.
“BOPEE appointed officials of BOPEE and Crime Branch, Government observers, University Prof and Principals from various colleges, for the monitoring of the examination and to bring total transparency in the examination”, sources said, adding, that tomorrow, nearly 14,000 candidates are on the run to appear in the Biology and Mathematics combination.
“To bring transparency in the Jammu Kashmir Common Entrance Test, Board of Professional Entrance Examination (BOPEE) had made special arrangements, including photo pasting and cross matching of signature by special officers”, sources said.
“Around 25,000 candidates from both winter and summer capital are appearing in the State’s prestigious Jammu Kashmir Common Entrance Test (JKCET) in four combinations–Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics, for above 4000 seats in Government and private college of the State”, sources added.
“As per preventive measure to shun cheating incidents or impersonation during examination, a colour photograph was pasted on the hall ticket, vis-à-vis on answer sheet and attendance sheet with full details of the candidate including Date of birth (DoB), roll number, parentage, etc”, sources added.
The sources further said that special officers were deputed to cross check the signature of the candidates on the attendance sheet appearing in the Jammu Kashmir Common Entrance Test (JKCET).
“All these initiative were taken to bring total transparency in the JKCET, in which some cheating incidents had taken place earlier”, sources said, adding, that BOPEE will put the answer key on the official website after the conclusion of the exam on June 24.
Besides this, a candidate was given the carbon copy affixed with the answer book, so that he could re-check the answer with the key available on the BOPEE website, sources said, adding, that the candidates having any objection regarding the answer key can report the matter to the BOPEE officials within three days after the culmination of the examination. BOPEE will take up the matter reported by the candidates with the experts and if found something wrong, will re-evaluate the answer key, sources added.
