SRINAGAR, Mar 18: Army today said a cricket tournament, which was, organised by a local battalion of the army for the youth of militancy-hit Tral and Awantipora concluded at Tsaraligund Cricket Ground with an overwhelming participation of players and locals.
An army spokesperson said The Shah-E-Hamdan Cricket Tournament – IV, which was organised by Rashtriya Rifles Battalion, concluded today amidst exhilarating cricket and enthusiastic crowd, “A total of 32 teams participated in the mega cricket tournament”, he said.
He said the final match of the tournament was played between Friends XI Padgampora Vs Cricket Club Awantipora in which Friends XI Padgampora won by 3- wickets.
He said Sartaj Ahmed of Friends XI Padgampora was adjudicated man of the match while as Wazir of Friends XI Padgampora team declared as Man of the Series on the occasion.
The Chief Guest, SP Awantipora gave away the prizes in the closing ceremony of the tournament. The Champions Trophy and a Cash Award of Rs. 25000 were presented to the winning team. A Cash Award of Rs. 10000 was presented to the runners-up team. Apart from this, many more cash rewards, medals and trophies were presented to the outstanding players and officials.
