Army public school Damana organizes Annual Sports Day

JAMMU, Dec 10: Army Public School Damana celebrated its Annual Sports Day and Prize Distribution Function 2016 with great zeal and enthusiasm, today.
Major General SK Sharma,YSM, GOC Tiger Division was the chief guest on the occasion, while Nandini Sharma, Chairperson FWO Tiger Division was the guest of honour.
Brig BS Bisht, SM, Chairman of the School and Poonam Bisht, FWO Chairperson Chenab Brigade also attended the function.
The Function which was declared open by the chief guest was attended by a large number of VIPs, Army and Civil Officers, Principals of different schools, parents, students and other guests. It was followed by the welcome song, lighting of lamp, torch ceremony and oath ceremony. Annual report was presented by Dr Renu Gupta, the Principal of the school wherein she highlighted the curricular and co-curricular achievements of the students. She expressed her satisfaction for the performance of the students in academics as well as in sports. She made a special reference to Riya Bakshi, a student of Class XI who participated in fencing championship at international level and to NCC cadets, Anmol Warikoo and Rahul Manhas who attended Republic Day Camp at New Delhi.
On the occasion the New IT Lab of the school was inaugurated by the chief guest which added one more feather in the progress cap of the school. Besides, ‘PRAIRNA, the Annual School Magazine was also released by the chief guest on this occasion.
The highlights of the programme were march past by the students of four houses of the school, achievers, NCC Cadets, both boys and girls, different types of races including frog jump by class I boys, sack race by class IV girls and relay race by senior girls and boys. The mesmerizing tableau type dance presentation by the students exhibiting Haryanvi, Punjabi, Rajesthani and Dogri cultural heritage was the centre of attraction. Besides, the demo presentation of Taekwondo, fencing and rope skipping by different groups of students was greatly acclaimed by the audience. Grand finale, a wonderful dance performance by more than two hundred students was the special event to behold.
The chief guest gave away the prizes to the meritorious students and the achievers. The prizes were given to the students who are best in academics, Olympiads and sports. The national and international achievers of the school were also honoured by giving them prizes for their achievements in different fields.
The vote of thanks was presented by Suresh Koul, Senior Coordinator of the school.
