Army pays tributes to martyr

SRINAGAR, Mar 29: Army today paid befitting tributes to Late Naib Subedar (JCO) Hira Kant Jha who attained martyrdom while performing highway protection duties in Pulwama district. Click here to watch video
In a solemn ceremony at Srinagar Maj Gen SK Sharma, Chief of Staff, Chinar Corps and all ranks, paid homage to the martyr on behalf of nation.
JCO, Hira Kant Jha was part of a road clearance team and sustained injuries when a private truck veered off the road and collided with the Army vehicle coming from the opposite direction in Chackot area of Awantipora in Pulwama district on March 26, 2018. He was provided immediate first aid and evacuated to 92 Base Hospital and had been in ICU since then. His condition deteriorated despite best efforts put up by the medical team and he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries on March 28, 2018 afternoon.
He was 45 years old and had joined the Army in 1991. He belonged to village Brahman Toli of Nowhatta Tehsil in Saharsa district, Bihar and is survived by his wife and two sons.
The mortal remains of the martyr were flown for last rites to his native place, where he would be cremated with full military honours.
