Army organizes Volleyball League

SRINAGAR, Feb 19: To promote the sporting talent in the Valley and to encourage sports, a Volleyball League which was organized by Army concluded at Uri town of Baramulla district.
An Army spokesman said the tournament was organized at Government Secondary School, Gingle in Uri which commenced on 12 Feb and was conducted on a knockout basis. A total of ten teams took part in the tournament.
“Teams of Param Pilan Village and Gingle A made it to the final which was played on sunday. Zonal Education Officer, SDPO & SHO (Uri), Sarpanch, Gingle and Nambardar, Gingle witnessed the eventful finale which was won by the Gingle A Team who were rewarded with the Gingle League Trophy along with gold medals to all players.
The Runners-up Trophy along with silver medals were awarded to the Param Pilan Team,” he said
”In the end, an interaction with the players and villagers was also carried out. The locals appreciated the gesture and efforts of the Army in making the tournament successful,” he added.
