Army organizes Inter Village Volleyball League

DODA, Feb 4: Army organised finals of Inter Village Volleyball League at Sports Stadium, Dodain close coordination with civil administration, District Sports Authorities, Jammu & Kashmir Police and Health Department.  The three-day event which commenced on Feb 2 captivated and enthralled the youth of Doda who attended in large numbers and were engaged constructively. The volleyball league comprised of 24 teams, who participated with vigour, enthusiasm and with the spirit of sportsmanship.
The Commanding Officer of the local Army unit at Doda was the chief guest. Mohd Hanif Malik, ADC Doda Vinay Kumar, ASP Doda and other civil dignitaries also graced the closing ceremony. King Khan, Doda won the match in a tough and nail biting contest with Cobra Bhallesa as first runners up and Gundoh Bhallesa as second runners up. Winners were presented the Gold, Silver and Bronze medals and prize money of rupees 10000, 6000 and 4000 respectively. Winners and   Runners-up were also presented with the Champion’s Trophy and Runners Up trophy and Second Runners Up trophy respectively in jampacked Doda Sports Stadium. Members of first three teams were provided with tracksuits also.
The competition was organised to promote Volleyball as a sport in the Doda area. The initiative by the Army was also aimed to select and field talented players at State and National levels. The event was witnessed by approximately 700 spectators, who whole heartedly appreciated the support provided by the Army to encourage the sports activities for the youth in district Doda.
