UDHAMPUR,  Sept 12: North Tech Symposium- an annual technology showcase event was organised by Headquarters, Northern Command here on Sept 11 and 12.
The event which initially started as an idea and innovation display way back in 2006, has over the years, matured into a convention for display of contemporary defence technologies, weapon systems and equipment to meet the operational requirements of Northern Command.
The event has emerged as a platform for mutual interaction and understanding of Army’s aspirations and the Industry’s capabilities towards a common and shared perspective of inducting cutting edge technologies into the Command Theatre, across the spectrum of operations and terrains.
The symposium was inaugurated by Lt Gen D Anbu, GOC-in-C, Northern Command. The theme of North Tech 2017 was ‘Enhancing combat effectiveness across the spectrum of operations through infusion of technology and innovative solutions tailor made for the Northern Command Theatre’.
The event this year saw active participation by nearly 110 defence manufactures including Defence Public Sector Undertaking (DPSUs), Private sector, vendors/sub-vendors, Defence R&D Labs of DRDO and system integrators. Capabilities of the industry in the fields of surveillance, situational awareness, communications, bullet proofing solutions soldier systems and operational logistics were at display.
The symposium achieved great synergy and strengthened the Army-Industry partnership, paving the path ahead for induction and development of custom-made solutions and equipment towards capability development and supporting the soldier on the ground.
