Army organises Chenab Valley Cricket League at Kishtwar

JAMMU, Oct 19: To reaffirm its commitment towards fostering peace and also to provide an impetus to the sporting talent in the region, Army organised a “Chenab Valley Cricket League” at Kishtwar which concluded, here today.
The event assisted the Army’s efforts to promote positive environment to showcase the hidden talent of local populace.
A total of 23 teams registered from various schools and villages of remote area of Kishtwar, Doda and Ramban to participate in the league cum knock-out basis.
The final match was played between District Q Club, Kishtwar and Asrariya, Kishtwar. After a competitive and hard-fought game, the team from District Q Club Kishtwar won the final match by 7 wickets.
The final match was witnessed by huge number of spectators, apart from officials from civil administration.
At the conclusion of the league the winning team and runners-up team was awarded with prize money, while the individual prizes for best batsman and best bowler were also awarded on the occasion.
This initiative by Army was highly appreciated by the youth and locals who thanked for conducting an entertaining event.
