Army holds seminar on drug abuse

RAJOURI, Feb 8: With an aim to aware the society and university going students about the ill-effects of drugs and a need to follow a multi dimensional policy in war against drugs menace, Rashtriya Rifles today organised a seminar in the campus of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University, here.
On the occasion, special guests from different sections of society, state as well as national level including Retired IPS Officer from Punjab, Shashi Kant, Chairman of Team Jammu Zorawar Singh Jamwal, IGP Technical PHQ J&K Johnny William, Vice Chancellor of BGSBU Prof Javed Masarat and DIG Police Rajouri-Poonch range, Uttam Chand, Sumit Bhargav representing media and some representatives from students addressed the participants.
All the speakers termed the drugs menace as grave and root cutter of society which should be checked at any cost to save future generations.
They also called for a multi dimensional approach to deal with the situation which involves stringent action against the peddlers and rehabilitation and de-addiction of addicted youth through Government help.
Army informed that small level awareness camps on village level on their part are a routine affair aimed to make aware the people of rural pockets against drugs menace and now army is also holding such awareness programmes in educational institutions to keep students away from this problem.
