DODA, Oct 12: Army organised Pir Panjal Kabaddi League 2018 in close coordination with Jammu & Kashmir Police, Health Department, District Sports Authorities and Civil Administration, at Sports Stadium, here.
The event was zealously contested from October 8, which captivated and enthralled the people of Doda for four days while engaging a large number of youth in a constructive manner with teams participating from seven districts including Doda, Kishtwar, Ramban, Rajouri, Poonch, Naushera and Reasi.
General Officer Commanding, Counter Insurgency Force (Delta) attended the event as chief guest.
Civil dignitaries including ADDC and SSP Doda also attended the closing ceremony.
Doda team won the match in a tough and nail biting contest with Rajouri team as runners-up.
Winners, first runners-up and second runners-up were presented with Gold, Silver and Bronze medals.
First three teams were also awarded with a cash prizes and Champions and Runners-up trophy in the overwhelming presence of populace in the Stadium. Best Raider & Best Catcher were also felicitated with individual trophies and cash prizes.
The event was followed by musical extravaganza by “Band of Bhaderwah” in which music enthusiasts GP singers presented best of folk and contemporary music.
The artists mesmerized the audience with Music & Melody. Musical evening was aimed at promoting music and cultural harmony amongst youth.
Initiative by Army is aimed to select and field talented players at state & national level. Selected players will further drive and inspire their peer group and local youth to achieve excellence in sports.
