Arms haul in Kishtwar

KISHTWAR, Jan 23: Ahead of Republic Day celebrations, Army and police busted a militants’ hideout in Hilnar forest area, falling under the jurisdiction of Chatroo police station in this district today.
According to police sources, army personnel from 11 RR Chatroo and cops from police station Chatroo launched a joint operation in Hilnar forest area, busted militants’ hideout and seized a huge cache of arms, ammunition and war like stores ahead of Republic Day celebrations.
The team recovered one AK-47, 3 AK-47 magazines, one Under Barrel Grenade (UBG) launcher, 7 grenades of UBG launcher, one Chinese pistol with magazine, 2 Kenwood radio sets, 2 Chinese hand grenade and 428 rounds of AK-47.
A case in this regard has been registered at Chatroo police station and investigation started.
This recovery of warlike stores and destruction of the hideout close to 26 January in the sensitive area of Chatroo has delivered a decisive blow to the nefarious designs of terrorists attempting to disrupt peace in the region.
