JAMMU, Oct 12: Army and police today recovered large quantity of arms, ammunition and explosive material and busted a hideout of the militants at village Samote in Chasana area of Reasi district.
Reports said the troops of Rashtriya Rifles battalion at Samote under the aegis of Rashtriya Rifles Uniform Force Headquarters and police launched a joint search operation in Shergari forest area of Chasana this morning after developing specific information about the consignment of arms and ammunition lying in the forests.
Army and police destroyed hideout of the militants and recovered the consignment, which included one M-16 rifle, one AK-47 rifle, one AK-56 rifle, five magazines of AK-47, one magazine of M-16, two Chinese grenades, five UBGL grenades, 30 pistol rounds, 204 AK-47 rounds and 75 Pika rounds.
“Timely recovery of arms and ammunition has averted major catastrophe in the area and thwarted evil designs of the militants,” sources said.
