JAMMU, Oct 30: Prevailing over Vipin Mali in a close contest in the summit clash, Arjun lifted the title trophy of the State Junior Snooker Championship, organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Billiards and Snooker Association at Billiards Hall, MA Stadium, here.
Earlier, Arjun won the first frame 76-44, lost the second 49-63, clinched the third 63-22, lost the fourth frame 43-59 and claimed the fifth 66-48 to finally win by (3-2).
Junior Billiards final was also played between Aman Choudhary and Stanzin Stobdan of Ladhakh in which Aman emerged as the winner, winning the title by 3-1.
General Secretary, Jammu and Kashmir Billiards and Snooker Association, Vishal Abrol informed that Senior Snooker is also going to start from today evening, adding that 64 players will be participating in this event and this is for the first time that the players from seven districts are taking part in the event.
He said that there will be 8 players from Srinagar, 8 players from Poonch, 4 players from Kathua, 2 players from Udhampur, 1 player from Reasi and 1 from Ladakh.
The matches were played on knockout basis. Rakesh and Ashok were the markers, while from now onwards, Mr Himayun will b the chief referee.
Meanwhile, in Senior Snooker, Akshay Kumar beat Karanjeet 3-0; Aijaz Ali drubbed Harjot Singh 3-0; Arjun Singh defeated Ankush Gupta 3-0 and Adnan Mir got the better of his rival 3-0.
