SRINAGAR, Jan 24: All Parties Sikh Coordination Committee (APSCC) has asked the people of Kashmir Valley to remain vigilant and thwart any attempt being made to target members of minority communities on the eve of visit of US President, Barrack Obama.
APSCC chairman, Jagmohan Singh Raina, in a statement said that minority community members may be targeted by people with vested interests so as to create fear psychosis among the masses. He said people should remain vigilant so that such eventuality is avoided and there is no disturbance in Kashmir.
“Members of both the majority and minorities are living in harmony and they should continue to do so without any confusion among their ranks. The onus is more on majority community and they should protect the interests of minorities,” said Raina.
“During the visit of former US President, Bill Clinton in March 2000, 35 Sikhs were killed in Chattisinghpora in Anantnag”, he said adding people should maintain a close watch so that such an act is not repeated and innocents are not killed furthermore.
He lamented that though almost 15 years have passed since the Chattisinghpora incident took place but as on date people who killed those innocents are not identified, as no probe was ordered in the incident and as such truth never came out.
