Apple Kids conducts Workshop on ‘Raising Confident & Respectful Children’

JAMMU, Jan 29: Apple Kids International pre-schools, Jammu held a Workshop, the first of its kind in Jammu on, ‘Raising Confident and Respectful Children’ at General Zorawar Singh Auditorium, Jammu University, here.
The event was inaugurated by the chief guest, Dr Pawan Kotwal, Divisional Commissioner Jammu by lighting the lamp along with the other dignitaries.
Gularj Singh Shahpuri, well known leadership and self development trainer and Dr Chand Trehan, highly acclaimed psychological counsellor, consultant & trainer were the resource persons on the occasion.
Lighting of the lamp was followed by Saraswati Vandana as a tribute to mother Saraswati.
While addressing the parents of Apple Kids, Dr Pawan Kotwal said that instilling good values in a child starts from the mother’s womb even before a child is born.
While quoting from the Mahabharata he gave the example of Abhimanyu, the son of Arjuna and Subhadra, who learnt the art of breaking into the chakravyuha when he was in Subhadra’s womb. But Abhimanyu did not know how to come out of the formation once he was inside, as Subhadra went off to sleep and did not listen to the remaining conversation.
He further stressed upon the parents to set good examples before their children to instil high moral values and skills in them.
While conducting the workshop, Dr Chand Trehan laid stress on the role of a parent in the different stages of a child’ sage that is the Pre Conventional Stage of upto7 years of a child, Conventional stage of 7to10 years and Post Conventional Stage of Adolescence. She laid stress on developing social emotional competence in children which is crucial to building long term sound relationships with family, society and peers.
Gulraj Shahpuri guided the parents with some very important parenting tips in developing their children into a successful, self-confident and mentally healthy human beings. He spoke about the different kinds of parenting styles. He threw light on the importance of developing good eating habits, sleeping habits, love for reading, social skills, discipline for our children, so that they grow up to be successful, confident and better prepared to face the ever challenging high paced world.
The event was concluded by presenting the mementos to the chief guest, esteemed resource persons and by acknowledging the center heads of the various branches of apple kids by the chief coordinator of Apple Kids J&K, Sanjay Mehra.
